Accountability

Accountability is carefully monitored and documented. It is of utmost importance that those in need receive the shipments of food and goods.

  • To ensure that the assistance provided reaches the intended recipients, the receipt of all shipments is confirmed by organizations on the ground in the recipient country by means of letter, email and/or pictures.
  • When we collaborate with other registered charities similar to ourselves, direct contact is with the collaborating charities who confirm needs and receipt of goods via email and occasionally with pictures.
  • Whenever our containers go to the consolidated warehouse in Toronto and on to developing countries, there is a known contact who confirms receipt of the shipment and also sends pictures.

Dried foods are purchased by the container loads out of Alberta. CFFC picks up supplies weekly and repackages them at the CFFC depot. All food is of high quality and delivered at low-cost. For example:

Oatmeal is delivered for $0.30 a LB

Split peas are delivered for $0.25 a LB

Rice was purchased in Vietnam and shipped directly to Haiti for $0.26 a LB.

Flour and sugar are received in bulk at no cost from a large distribution centre in B.C.

Milk powder is purchased from the Canadian Dairy Commission in Ottawa and picked up in Alberta for the current world price, at approximately $2.50 a KG. When certificates are required, foods are inspected and tested by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and certificates are issued at that time. We have never failed tests in all the years that we have been exporting food.

What We Do

Joseph Krentz

I've been incredibly fortunate to never have experienced the difficulties I see in the world every day. I can’t imagine what it’s like to go hungry.

We’re all looking to make a difference in our world and I believe that by focusing on communities, we’re going to make the most substantial impact. The world is made up of these important social connections and if  fostered positively, they’ll pay huge dividends - in love, care, and a better world.

We do a lot to improve life for communities in need!

President of CFFC B.C. Division

Volunteers

If you have able hands, we want your help. Whether it's serving food aid in a kitchen, painting walls of a newly repaired home, or collecting donations, we need you. And so do communities in need.

Projects

We're continually working hard to improve communities throughout the state. If you're interested to see what we've been doing recently (especially if you want to help), check out our project list.

Mission

Our mission is to help the suffering and starving children of the world by raising funds to purchase food for the hungry in developing or disaster stricken countries
